Medicare Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs) allow you to make changes to your Medicare coverage outside of the annual Open Enrollment Period. SEPs are triggered by certain life events, such as:
– Moving to a new area
– Losing other health insurance coverage
– Getting married or divorced
– Turning 65 or becoming eligible for Medicare due to a disability
– Retiring
– Changing jobs
If you have a qualifying life event, you may be eligible to enroll in Medicare Part A and/or Part B, join or switch to a Medicare Advantage plan, or enroll in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan during a SEP.
